FASTING RESOLVES 19-YEAR GASTROINTESTINAL ILLNESS

NOTE: FCI today enjoys our world's largest, nonresidential fasting clientele, fully half of whom are doing FCI's Total Detoxification Program--their chronological-age number plus 17, in number of actual juice-fasting days. As is also true of a majority of FCI's global clients, Serguei Son, a 27-year-old graduate student at Yale University, was not fasting to lose weight, and actually began his 54-day Program at 132 lbs., explaining:

"I would like to record the results that I am expecting from the Program:

1. "I wish to get rid of the gastrointestinal problems that have poisoned my existence since I was 8 (which doctors have ever failed to recognize, despite much effort).

2. "I wish to regain the high energy, the sharp memory, and the clarity of thinking that I had when I was younger, and that I am loosing deplorably every year.

3. "I wish to put myself in control of my physical desires; being able to curb the longing for food (the strongest instinct) would be a giant step toward that goal.

"The above quotation is the 'signature' that concludes every email letter written by Dennis Paulson, Founder/Director of Fasting Center International. It is so true that it looks like a mere platitude, sometimes failing to catch the eye or, at any rate, to be fully appreciated. But when I completed my 54-day Program (44 days of actual juice-fasting), I understood how profoundly crucial, how inevitably fundamental, the truth revealed in that citation is.

"Out of 27 years of my life, the last 19 were spent against a background of dull suffering. When I was 8, I came down with hepatitis, and I never have been quite healthy since. Every waking moment of my life, I was aware of my liver and stomach: if I was not in pain, then I felt discomfort in my abdomen. I was nauseous so permanently that being sick of things became a constant part of my disposition. Of course, I saw plenty of doctors. But they could not even understand the cause of my poor condition, or simply labeled it with something like 'Chronic Fatigue Syndrome,' and gave me useless prescriptions to get more rest, to take various kinds of pills, and so on.

"I had to take a leave of absence from my studies for a semester (I am a graduate student at Yale University). And I was seriously doubting that I would ever be able to enter on an even moderately-demanding career. Until, that is, I chanced upon FCI's/Dennis's Website and did my fast.

"To say that this fast was the single, most useful thing I've done to/for myself in my life would be an understatement. This program saved me! It saved my aspirations. It restored my birthright to enjoy life.

"It allowed me to remember what radiant health feels like. I cannot believe, today, that I had to suffer so hopelessly before the fast. Today, I need only 6-7 hours of sleep per night, and can work 10 hours a day, every day!

"The fast has vastly improved my concentration and acuteness of perception. I no longer have to re-read difficult passages in scientific papers.

"My willpower has reached a new height. If I catch myself coming up with an excuse for not doing something that I should, I remind myself that I was strong enough to go through 44 days of fasting, and it works most of the time.
